Noir

I was chosen to design the announcement poster for the 2011 GFU Art Academy Awards (also known as the Lippis). We agreed on the theme of "Film Noir" so I sought to achieve that feel. The face used is actually the face of "The David", since the awards given are casts of those lips.

An Evening of Beethoven

This poster was designed to be an advertisement for a fictitious performance by the Portland Philharmonic Orchestra. The goal of the design was to choose an art movement and era and then design a poster utilizing those motifs. I chose to style my poster after the legendary Art Deco poster artist A.M. Cassandre.

Social Issue Poster

The goal of this poster design is to raise awareness on a specific social issue currently facing our society. I chose to design a poster raising awareness of the utility and application of the industrialized hemp plant.

Ivar Shelved Backpack

Presented with a physical version of the backpack, my challenge was to come up with an illustration of the backpack that shows the interior (patented) shelving, which relieves back strain on the wearer. Since this is not possible with photography, an illustration is needed to represent this quality of the product.

The North Face

The challenge with this design was to create a series of illustrations called "isotypes" which communicate the features of a undetermined "The North Face" clothing product. Presented with the phrases "renewable", "local resources" and "biodegradable", my goal was to create illustrations that represent the words, while allowing a consumer to understand the graphic without the words being present.

Oregon FFA Foundation

The Oregon FFA Foundation wanted a more final and professional looking logo than the one they currently had and presented me with what they currently were using. They wanted the logo to utilize the color scheme and visual aspects of the official FFA logo, but not actually include the logo. They also wanted it to fit to the State of Oregon, and I created a solution which met their requirements and exceeded their expectations.

The Canby Center

When I was asked to redesign The Canby Center's logo I was presented with a previous designed logo that did not display any unity between the text and the graphic. The manager wanted the logo to have a more modern appeal and color scheme since their community center organization deals with both youth and adults. My solution creates a bold and highly readable logo that has a flow and unity between the graphic and text.

GFU Bruin Directory

George Fox University has a directory of all the students and staff produced every year. I worked in a collaborative team to produce the 2010-11 edition with the theme "Make Your Mark". This project required careful planning and execution in order to make sure the entire 176 page book read clearly and remained stylistically consistent.

Stories Reborn Booklet

This booklet was designed to display a research paper and artist biographies as an aid for a gallery displaying recent Native American art. The client had a specific color scheme and look that she wished to maintain throughout the booklet.
